Creating More Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive Apprenticeships
In Illinois, there is a significant gap for underrepresented populations in recruitment, retention, and successful completion of registered apprenticeships. Without changes that start at the apprenticeship level, women, people of color, differently-abled people, and other excluded groups will continue to have limited opportunities to compete for high-quality jobs in sectors that where the pathway begins with an apprenticeship. Come hear how apprenticeship leaders are changing how apprenticeships are inclusively marketed to diverse audiences, how programs are focusing on retention and success differently, and how broadening apprenticeship types with employers who champion DEI efforts can open new opportunities for previously excluded individuals.
