Craig Schmidt currently serves as Vice President of Talent Development for the Calumet Area Industrial Commission. He leads federal and state grants that support training and apprenticeships in advanced manufacturing. He has worked in workforce development most of his career in higher education at Prairie State College and healthcare at Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. He has successfully written and led millions of dollars of grants over the years focused on creating a pipeline of skilled workers in high demand careers such as manufacturing, transportation, healthcare, and IT. Craig serves in leadership positions with numerous organizations in the Chicago Southland area, including past chairman of the board for The Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce, the board of directors for the Homewood Area Chamber of Commerce, and also a member of the Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation.
